Bangkok-born, New York-based, Tiri Kananuruk is a performer and new media artist. She holds a BA in Exhibition Design from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, and a Master’s in Interactive Telecommunications from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She recently finished a one-year New Media Arts residency at Mana Contemporary. She has performed at Roulette Intermedium, Judson Memorial Church, Movement Lab at Barnard College, The Firehouse Space Brooklyn, and Mana Contemporary among others. At CultureHub, Tiri’s work explores the manipulation of sound in the context of technological consumerism, examining human relationships through the use of transmitted signals, machine learning, chatbots, and bodily movement. Her research is about choice in the era of automation, and how the performer can use lack of choice as an improvisation platform.
