CultureHub Belgrade Convening 2023
At the CultureHub Belgrade Convening, a group of international and regional artists came together for a series of workshops and creative offerings focusing on the theme Mapping Solidarity: How can we develop, share, and disseminate new models for support and solidarity? How can we build communities that exist on and offline, fostering a network of support that expands past our local geography? The convening will provide a space for play, learning, and sharing that will deepen existing relationships in this organic network.
The convening culminated that responded to the theme Mapping Solidarity with an audio/visual artwork that was projected outside in front of UK Parobrod, which was open to the public.

CultureHub Belgrade Convening 2021
Centering around the theme Solidarity: Digital Strategies for Creative Resilience, the CultureHub Belgrade Convening is a platform for artists, technologists, educators, and activists to share and disseminate digital methodologies for art-making and cultural exchange. With the generous support from the Trust for Mutual Understanding, CultureHub brought 8 U.S. artists, producers, and facilitators to the CultureHub Belgrade Convening which took place at UK Parobrod in Belgrade from July 1-3, 2021.
COVID-19 emphasized the need for solidarity within the performing arts community, as almost every artist and arts organizations faced an existential crisis as to how and if they could continue to create and present artwork during the lockdowns. But in Serbia, where human rights are threatened in a hybrid regime, independent media is scarce, and alternative discourse is difficult to find, this need for solidarity is not exclusively connected to the pandemic crisis. By offering innovative, yet sustainable models for art and technology collaboration within the performing arts, the CultureHub Belgrade Convening sparked new relationships and opportunities for collaboration that confront increasing isolation resulting from a rise in nationalism and the global health crisis.
