Catastrophe can be personal or collective; an abrupt act of violence or a longer process of decay; human-induced or natural disaster. It is a total change of paradigm, something that challenges everything we know in the blink of an eye. Catastrophe is no longer a surprise, it is the state of the world, it is what we expect – pandemics, devastating wars, hideous displays of aggression, floods, wildfires, etc. But how does soil/body/mind react?

We all know that the window or the opportunity for change that emerges from disasters is relatively short, that the idea of reconstructing in a way reduces vulnerability. The opportunity is there. But remember there is always the pressure to reinstall the old system. And that opportunity becomes narrower as you move further into the reconstruction process
–Anthony Oliver-Smith, professor emeritus of Applied Anthropology

Digital experimental performance In a blink is a work-in-progress that will map out the stages of dealing with disasters (Warning, Threat, Impact, Rescue, Remedy, Recovery). How long can we stay in the vulnerable state of opportunity in this constant loop of healing and catastrophe?

In a blink is created by:
eho animato - Ana Konstantinović, Marija Kovačina, Tamara Baračkov, Željko Maksimović
viah - Vi Tranová, Rosalie Malinská, Nina Sibinská
