CultureHub Mappathon™ is a 2-day workshop that introduces students to projection mapping and LED mapping techniques in one weekend. Students can choose to participate in just one day of the workshop, or both. Giving step-by-step instruction and individualized assistance and feedback, CHiKA will teach mapping techniques using the software, MadMapper (Mac and PC friendly) that can be applied to projections and LEDs. This workshop is an excellent jump-start for anyone who wants to use mapping techniques and technologies for a future project.
Day 1: Projection Mapping
Projection mapping technology can turn almost any surface into a dynamic video display. Specialized software, MadMapper, is used to warp and blend projected images, so they fit perfectly on irregularly shaped “screens.” Students will be introduced projection mapping and learn how to use MadMpper using their own visual content.
Day 2: LED Mapping
Students will design a simple LED light installation controlled by real-time video. CHiKA will introduce students to the new MadMapper 3, share the principles of LED Mapping with MadMapper (DMX / Artnet), and instruct students on how to control an RGB Digital Flexible LED Strip using MadMapper.
Plus, students will receive free 30-day full access to MadMapper.
