Jackie Liu is an artist, digital designer, and programmer who makes playful, narrative work with (and about) technology. Her practice shifts between web programming, visual narrative, and user interface design to tell stories about her own life, foster collective vulnerability, and experiment with new modes of relating: with herself, with others, between moments in time, and between disciplines. She was recently a member of NEW INC’s Art & Code track, and holds a master's degree from NYU ITP and a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT.

Chao Bing: A Read-Only Memory Experience is an interactive memoir in the style of a 90s CD-ROM storybook game. The project currently exists as a web-based, point-and-click game that also tells the story of its own making.

During my residency, I plan to develop Chao Bing into a performance piece and host a live ‘reading’–exploring the act of reflecting on the (personally and technologically) obsolete, building a game, and sharing it with others as a poetic gesture of care and transformation.
