Valerie McCann is a body-based artist, facilitator and researcher. Val works collaboratively with artists and ensembles across the US, UK and Europe. Her practice is rooted in somatic inquiry, interconnection, and the wonder of phenomenology. As a performer and co-conspirator, she dances across traditional theatre, postmodern choreographic and performance art disciplines. Her interest lies in the meeting of rigour and reality, where methodology can be reimagined through the lens of relationship to remove assumptions and invite the unexpected.

‘Devising it all for Company’ is a yearlong research practice in the choreography of perception through relational foci, following the road map of Samuel Beckett’s Company. Collaborators Raquel Bell and Primary Mystical Experience enhance this experiment in shared phenomenology through live sound and visual co-creation. Whether you are in the CulutreHub LA studio or participating online, I invite you to enter the shared somatic spacetime and sit, recline, stand, lay or move. And in another dark or in the same another devising it all for company.
