How is our consciousness, the sense of being aware and all that we are aware of, shaped through creative play in new media? How can our creative work expand by investigating this relationship?
Expanding Your Creative Practice explores consciousness as the primary medium in the creative process, and its role in developing new media art. In this workshop, we will prepare with gentle yogic movement, then use guided meditation to explore the five principles of new media — numerical representation, modularity, variability, automation, and transcoding. We will reflect on those practices, and discuss how these tools can be applied to creative new media projects.
This workshop will be led by past Resident Artist Mx. Oops as they invite you to the methods used to develop Plasma, an evening-length multimedia performance at Dixon Place, December 6-14, 2019. This workshop gives you a behind the scenes glimpse of the process underlying the work, and skills to apply to your own multimedia alchemy.
