As image travels across medium and form, so does it transform and accumulate meaning. In this workshop, we will shape the journey of images as they traverse between physical and digital mediums. Participants will create their own visual narratives as they take their images through idiosyncratic programming and collage strategies, and by connecting diverse processes including machine learning and slime-making.
Bring one or more images that are meaningful or interesting to you: these can be digital files, printed photos, or even objects or text. You will come away from this workshop with your own original material-virtual assemblages. Suitable for ages 12-122.
Parch Es and Eric Fanghanel are media artists from Mexico City currently based in Los Angeles. They draw from a wide range of disciplines—from painting, performance, and poetry to social relations to virtual reality—in order to build assemblages: a word that means both 'collage' and 'network'. Their work is a fluid practice of moments and mediums placed together in contingency.
