Christopher Rivas is making a podcast ⁠— and he needs your help! Join Stitcher & CultureHub for a special screening of Christopher Rivas’ one-man show The Real James Bond...Was Dominican. Afterwards, participate in a story circle, facilitated by Chris and recorded by Stitcher for use in Chris’ upcoming narrative podcast, Rubirosa, based on the same story. 

A story circle is a communal conversation with an audience about a piece of theater. It’s less about the performer/performance and more about the stories and memories that the show brings up from audience members’ own lives. What do you recognize in this piece of art? Chris will facilitate the story circle, which will be recorded by Stitcher and portions of the recording will be edited and used in the forthcoming podcast.

Reservations are free and capacity is limited! If you reserve a ticket but can no longer attend, please email info@culturehub.org so that we can release your seat to someone on the waitlist.

By reserving a ticket for this event, you are granting Stitcher the right to use your name and voice in an episode of the forthcoming Rubirosa podcast and promotional materials associated with it.

About The Real James Bond… Was Dominican 
What happens when a Dominican boy in Queens, who won't go anywhere without his nerf gun, with an imagination far beyond his current shell, and obsession with James Bond finds out that the real James Bond was Dominican? ¿Que Qué? Yeah!

This is a true story about the real James Bond, not the one you've read in books and seen in the movies--the darker one, the one from the island, the one with hips, thick hair, and a bigger nose. 

And it’s about a young Dominican actor-to-be whose discovery of Rubi shakes his very foundation. The Real James Bond…Was Dominican is a guide to love, sex, color, code switching, whitewashing, success, fake-it-till-you-make-it and the roller coaster of finding one’s true self. Immerse yourself in a memorable, intimate and inspiring theater experience at this special engagement, written and performed by Christopher Rivas.
