Writers can apply for the Writing for Electronic Formats workshop led by Erik Ehn, with contributions from Experiments in Digital Storytelling collaborators.

The deadline to apply has passed.

Writing for Electronic Formats will provide a point of convergence for those interested in generating writing for live electronic formats, exploring new modes of storytelling, and engaging with technology from critical and imaginative perspectives.

The workshop welcomes fifteen writers to engage in a two-week intensive of asynchronous and synchronous sessions with guest creative technologists, writers, performers and new media artists.

  • Writers will be asked to submit a writing sample representative of their work (scripts, screenplays, short stories, novels, etc.).

  • Sessions will be led by Erik Ehn with contributions from artists Mx. Oops, Shauna Davis, Stacy Dawson Stearns, Shawn Van Every, and Yuguang Zhang.

  • Workshop is free for participants and runs for two weeks from January 10–21, 2022 with asynchronous daily writing prompts and six synchronous sessions. Please apply only if you are able to attend all synchronous sessions (see Schedule for dates and times).

  • Workshop will be online with synchronous sessions occurring on Zoom. CultureHub NY studio may be open for use during sessions.

  • Focus will be on generating new writing for live electronic formats, rather than developing existing texts.
